Malignant pleural mesothelioma

Malignant pleural mesothelioma is a rare disease. Its main etiological factor is exposure to asbestos. Due to restrictive measures, its incidence is gradually decreasing. However, the possibilities of desirably influencing the disease are limited. This is proven by the fact that in terms of systematic treatment, Slovakia has had an identical chemotherapy regimen (platinum + Pemetrexed) for the past 20 years. Like other oncological diagnoses, using immunotherapy is a step forward in treating mesothelioma. Indication and the proper selection of a candidate for radical surgical treatment is an important issue.
