Treatment of patient with metastatic prostate cancer – from sensitive to castration resistant disease – case report
Purpose: The main purpose of the case report is to present the treatment options of patients with metastatic prostate cancer. The aim is to present that available treatment can prolong the overall survival and maintain a good quality of life to the group of these patients. Case: We describe a case of a patient with initially diagnosed asymptomatic metastatic prostate cancer, who has received various treatments (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, treatment with enzalutamide a treatment with radium-223). The administered treatment extended the patient´s life and preserved a good quality of his life. Conclusion: Even today the metastatic prostate cancer represents a complicated disease, which the uniform optimal sequence and combination of drugs and treatment procedures is not set. Generally, we decide on the extent of disease, the location of metastases, the age and patient´s condition, the patient´s co-morbidity, the symptomatology of the cancer, the rate of progresion, and last but not least the patient preferences.
