The treatment of clear cell renal carcinoma
In general, systemic therapy is indicated when unresectable disease, either metastatic or locally advanced, is present. Treatment of renal cell carcinoma during the last 5 years has been changed dramatically. Immunotherapy with checkpoint inhibitors and its combinations with VEGF inhibitors has become a major modality for the treatment of clear cell renal carcinoma. Subsequent choice of therapy is dependent on prior therapy received.
