THERAPY FOR GLIOBLASTOMA MULTIFORME WITH CONCOMITANT CHEMRADIOTHERAPY AND FOLLOWING CHEMOTHERAPY
Prognosis of glioblastoma multiforme is the worse out of all malignant brain tumors. Considering its agresive biological behaviour and mostly local spreading it is suitable for concomitant chemradiotherapy. Based on the phase 3 of a trial, concomitant aplication of temozolomid and radiotherapy followed by adjuvant aplication of temozolomid significantly prolonges the time to progression of disease and overall survival of patients. This therapeutic plan becomes a new standard for patients with glioblastoma multiforme after primary surgical treatment.
