Comprehensive geriatric assessment in ongology

Oncologists are confronted with an increasing population of older patients with cancer. Decision-making for these patients is complex and forms a challenge for treating physicians. Geriatric population is heterogenous, while chronological age doesn’t often correlate with biological age. For decision making process is often important to distinguish between frail and fit subjects. Comprehensive geriatric assessment is multidisciplinary evaluation, that assesses the objective health and well-being of the older adults. This process includes several issues of geriatric patient´s lives, like physical health, mental health, functional health and socio-economic issues. For all above-mentioned aspects, several scales and questionnaires were published. The main disadvantage is the lack of their impact actual on decision-making process, as a result of heterogeneity and interpretation issues. The aim of this publication is to provide review of published data, that could be used for routine clinical practise.
