PHARMACOECONOMICS OF ONCOLOGIC TREATMENT FORM THE POINT OF VIEW OF HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANY

Economic evaluation of expenses is essential for the budget creation in Health Insurance Companies. Treatment of cancer diseases is among the most costly therapies. The introduction of innovative drugs and new strategies in prevention, diagnostic and therapy continualy contributes to the cost increase. In the first half of 2007 we‘ve seen 13 % increase expanditures for cancer traetment compared to the same term of 2006 which makes 320 millions SKK in absolute numbers. Pharmacoeconomics offer a lot of methods to evaluate costs of therapy. Cost of illness analysis is the most simple and the most frequent used one.
