External radiotherapy of the most common primary brain tumors
External radiotherapy has been an important treatment modality in the treatment of brain tumors for several decades. In a fundamental way, it complements primary neurosurgical treatment in a multidisciplinary approach, or represents an independent treatment modality. In combination with chemotherapy and, prospectively, with immunotherapy, external radiotherapy remains an integral part of the management of patients with a primary brain tumor. The article is devoted to external radiotherapy of the most frequently occurring primary brain tumors as it takes place in clinical practice, describes the possibilities of a therapeutic combination of radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors.
