Exosomes – new topic in diagnostics of cancer
Exosomes, membrane vesicles with diameter in the range of 30 – 100 nm, are produced by nearly all types of cells, including tumor ones. Because the molecular profile of exosomes reflects the composition of producing cells, exosomes represent the suitable source of potencial biomarkers for detection of malignant population. The aim of this minireview is to provide basic information about biogenesis of exosomes and some examples of their exploitation in tumor diagnostics.
Keywords: exosomes, intercellular communication, biomarkers, diagnostics.
