Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most frequently occurring type of malignant lymphoma. It belongs to the group of aggressive lymphomas and patients with this type of lymphoma require immediate start of therapy, however more than a half of the can be cured. Incorporation of rituximab into current treatment protocols improved prognosis of patients with this type of lymphoma. High-dose chemotherapy with autologous stem cell transplantation remains the basic treatment strategy for patients with chemosensitive relapse of DLBCL. Positron emission tomography (PET) has become a standard method in initial staging as well as in post-treatment assessment of patients with DLBCL.
