Hereditary cancer syndromes

Hereditary cancer syndromes are genetic disorders caused by inherited mutations in one or more genes. These mutations predispose the affected individuals to the development of cancers, often early in life. Besides the high lifetime risk of developing cancer, mutationcarrying individuals are often at-risk to develop multiple independent primary tumors. Hereditary cancer syndromes are caused by mutations in tumor suppressor genes, oncogenes, and mutator genes.
