Acute conditions in oncology and their treatment

Oncological emergencies include several serious health complications arising not only from the tumor process itself, but also from the oncological treatment administered. With the increasing incidence of cancer, the expanding possibilities of their treatment and the improvement of patient survival, we can increasingly encounter significant and often life-threatening complications of both malignant diseases and their treatment. Many of them are quite specific and their incidence is rare outside the oncology patient population. This review article discusses selected acute complications of cancer and oncological treatment and their management.
