Current trends in the surgical treatment of thyroid tumors
Thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine malignancy. The basic treatment is still a total thyroidectomy, although currently we can observe efforts to individualise surgical treatment, specially for papillary mikrocarcinome. Lymph node dissection is indicated for therapeutic reasons, prophylactic is discussed, not yet reached a clear consensus.
