The role of physiotherapy in the prevention and treatment of diabetic polyneuropathy complications
Diabetic polyneuropathy is the most common chronic microvascular complication of diabetes mellitus. The number of type 2 diabetic patients and subsequently diabetic polyneuropathy continues to grow, namely due to inappropriate lifestyle of current population. Over the life course the diabetic polyneuropathy affects more than 50 % of diabetics. Medical rehabilitation including physical therapy methods has an important role in influencing the symptoms and other complications of this serious disease as well as in prevention of their progress.
