Rare causal agents of onychomycoses in Slovak republic
Etiological diversity of onychomycoses is wide; about 80 fungal species are estimated. A high proportion of onychomycoses are caused by small number of dermatophytic species, predominantly Trichophyton rubrum and/or Trichophyton interdigitale, finger nail infections are evoked also by yeasts. A lot of hyphal non-dermatophyte species also give rise to the nail mycoses. Role and antifungal sensitivity some of rare non-dermatophytes (i.e. Fusarium, Acremonium, Onychocola, Arthrographis spp.) isolated from patient nails in Slovak republic are briefly discussed.
Keywords: onychomycoses, non-dermatophytes, dematophytes.
