Daylight use for actinic keratoses treatment
Photodynamic therapy with daylight (DL-PDT) is a promising treatment modality for actinic keratoses (AK). In enablet the convenient and painless treatment of large areas of photo-damaged skin, and has excellent cosmetic outcome. DL-PDT using methyl-5-aminolaevulinate (MAL) has shown equal efficacay with conventional PDT, results of European and Australian multicentric studies have confirmed these findings. In this article the recommendations arising from panel of experts provide general guidances on the use of DL-PDT as a dermatological procedure with specific guidance regarding patients selection, therapeutic indications, when to treat, pretreatment skin preparation, MAL application and daylight exposure for patients with AK.
