Treatment of acne
Treatment of acne should be directed toward all known pathogenic factors involved in acne if possible. The most notable factors are abnormal follicular epithelial proliferation and keratinization, excess sebum secretion, intrafollicular Propionibacterium acnes and inflammation. Targeting of these factors with combination therapy is the most effective approach for treating acne. The grade, severity, localization and type of healing with possible scaring are important and help in determination which type of treatment is appropriate.
