Therapeutic options of rozacea
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that can seriously impair quality of patient’s life. The choice o therapy depends on the subtype of the disease. Specific topical treatment include metronidazole, azelaic acid, brimonidine, local retinoids and ivermektin. In severe subtypes systemic antibiotic therapy or systhemic retinoids are necessary. As the disease often affects the eyes, routine ophthalmologist follow-up is important in patients with rosacea. Correct diagnosis of the individual subtypes of the disease and subsequent adequate treatment is crucial, not only for the treatment of skin manifestations, but also for improving the life quality of the patients.
