The aim of the work is to provide information on the current state of legislation regarding the reporting of STD to doctors-dermatovenerologists, who are obligatory to report STD from law and to highlight the importance of one-way reporting. Next goal is to familiarize reporting doctors with the spectrum of data required for reporting of STD in Slovakia and European union. The other goal of this work is to provide a brief analysis of the incidence of reported STD in 2014 in Slovakia. Results and conclusions: In the present analysis, the authors summarize the status of STD reporting in the Slovak Republic both in terms of current legislation and also by application of principles of comprehensive data collection on communicable diseases in general. This system was applied in 2014 for the first time and thanks to effective aid of workers of National Health Information Centre it has been managed to unify the database of reported STD cases and to generate uniform data for the use of all users. First, for those who are professionally interested in the issue and also for those who create supranational analysis of the occurrence for World hospital organization (WHO), European Centre for Disease and Prevention Control (ECDC) or other organizations. Analysis of the major STD indicated that there was increase of reported cases. This increase may occur both by improvement of reporting but also by deterioration of the epidemiological situation in the occurrence of STD in Slovakia. We will carefully monitor and analyze this phenomenon in the next years.
