Current vision of allergic contact dermatitis: pathogenesis, diagnostics, clinics and therapy

Allergic contact dermatitis is a non-infectious inflammatory dermatosis. It has various and characteristic clinical appearance. If the causative allergen is not discovered the disease is chronic with multiple relapses. In clinical practice, allergic contact dermatitis is the most common referred type of delayed hypersensitivity. Prognosis of the disease depends on early diagnostics. Exact history is used to discover the causative allergen which should be subsequently confirmed with patch testing. Elimination of the causative allergen is the basis of effective treatment.
