Teamwork between gynecologist and dermatologist regarding the use of combined hormonal contraceptives with antiandrogenic effect

Cooperation between dermatovenerologist and gynecologist is very common. And it is not only about diseases in external genital area. Many skin diseases such as acne, seborrhea, androgenetic alopecia, hypertrichosis as well hirsutism are significantly influenced by use of combined hormonal contraceptives with antiandrogenic effect. On the contrary, long-term use of contraceptives leads sometimes to adverse reactions and diseases such as perioral dermatitis, chloasma, worsening of acne after interruption of contraceptives rebound fenomen). Good communication between dermatovenerologist and gynecologist is natural, perhaps this practical article about above mentioned conditions and diseases may contribute to it.
