Sinecatechins

Sinekatechins, extracts from the Camellia sinensis (Chinese tea), find their use in the treatment of condylomata acuminata. Sinecatechin ointment is the first botanical therapeutic agent approved for the therapy of anogenital warts, which has been included in to the European guideline for the management of anogenital warts. Its efficacy is mediated through its polyphenols (catechinepicatechins, epigalocathechins, epicatechigallates, epigallocatchingalats) and reveals anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiviral and immunostimulatory effects. Recurrence rate after treatment is lower than in different types of topical therapy. It can be used as a monotherapy, combined therapy or as an adjuvant treatment after ablative procedures.
