PSORIASIS – ETHIOPATHOGENESIS, CLINICAL PICTURE AND CURRENT TREATMENT OPTIONS

Psoriasis is a common chronic inflammatory skin disorder with predisposition inherited as a multifactorial trait affecting approximately 2 – 4 % Caucasian. Psoriasis may present as chronic plaque form or acute exanthematic disease. Etiopathogenesis of psoriasis is not clear. Topical therapy is used in treating mild psoriasis while systemic agents are usually required in patients affected by moderate to severe plaque type psoriasis.
