Treatment of genital warts

Condylomata acuminata are considered one of the most common sexually transmitted infections caused by HPVs (Human Papilloma Viruses), mainly low risk HPV 6 and 11. Therapy of condylomata acuminata is difficult due to the high risk of recurrence. Currently, the available therapeutic modalities are focused to eliminate the clinical manifestation of HPV. The manuscript provides the information about therapeutic methods of condylomata acuminata. Cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen, topical cytotoxic agents, topical immunomodulators, sinecatechins are usually used in the topical therapy. Surgery and laser ablation, cidofovir or interferon are possible therapeutics. Due to increasing trend in cases of condylomata acuminata a lot of experimental therapeutics are available.
