Mastocytosis – a comprehensive view of issues
Mastocytosis is a heterogeneous disease characterized by an abnormal accumulation of mast cells in the skin or internal organs. Most pediatric patients suffer from cutaneous mastocytosis – a benign form of disease. Systemic and progressive mastocytosis is rare in children. In most cases of mastocytosis early checkups are necessary. This article discusses early diagnosis, etiopathogenesis, classifications, preventive recommendations and therapy for physicians involved in the care of patients with mastocytosis.
