Lichen amyloidosis – case report
Purpose: Lichen amyloidosis is a rare form of primary cutaneous amyloidosis, characterized by amyloid deposition in the skin without systemic involvement. The rarity of its occurrence such as the variability of its clinical signs can lead to diagnostic mistakes. Case report: We describe the case of a 59-year-old patient due to papular to verrucous seeding on the shins bilaterally. Because of the uncorrelated skin findings and histological findings, re-excision was performed from two foci on the right tibia. Subsequent histological examination was supplemented by histochemical examination and immunofluorescence examination with conclusion of cutaneous amyloidosis of lichen type amyloidosis. Conclusion: Lichen amyloidosis remain a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. The treatment of this disease is currently equivocal and empirical due to the rarity of the disease itself.
