Skin – a mirror of gut microbiota
The relationship between flare of chronic inflammatory skin diseases and diet is empirically well known and clear. Experimental and clinical research in the past decades brought an evidence and explained several pathogenetic mechanisms of skin-gut relationship. Effect of prebiotics, probiotics, gut adsorbents and other therapeutic approaches in dysmicrobia management and their effect on inflammatory skin diseases was studied widely. Aim of this article is to summarize recent knowledge about influence of physiologic and dysmicrobic gut microbiota on skin and to point out importance and possibilities of dysmicrobia treatment as supplement to common therapy of skin diseases by topical or oral therapy.
