Conventional systemic treatment of psoriasis yesterday, today and tomorow

Chronic plaque psoriasis is one of the most common types of psoriasis, often accompanying the disability of a patient with inability to social application and significantly reducing the quality of life. Due to the pathogenesis of psoriasis, where the immune response is dysfunctional combined with the effects of the external environment on the genetic background of existing treatment methodologies that help to address this serious disease. In addition to basic topical therapy with anti-inflammatory external agents, keratolytics and corticoids, we have options for systemic treatment of psoriatic disease. Conventional systemic treatment of psoriasis includes treatment with phototherapy, cyclosporine A, acitretin and methotrexate. In case of insufficient efficacy or intolerance of conventional systemic therapy, the patient switches to systemic biologic therapy.
