Hidradenoma – case report of rare adnexal tumor of skin

Adnexal tumors of the skin are relatively rarely diagnosed nosological entities in dermatopathological practice. The vast majority of them are benign tumors; malignant forms occur only very sporadically. They may be histogenetically derived from the hair follicles, from eccrine or apocrine sweat glands, and from sebaceous glands. Because of a frequent heterogeneous and also combined histomorphological picture, their precise classification and definitive systematic categorization is often difficult. Hidradenoma is one of the benign cutaneous adnexal tumors arising from the sweat gland ducts. The authors of the article present a case report of a patient with histologically verified hidradenoma on the lower extremity, and describe some information about clinicopathological aspects of this disorder, as well as about diagnostics of adnexal tumors of the skin in routine biopsy examination.
