Photoprotection in skin diseases

The effects of sunlight on the skin are different depending on the phototype of the skin, photodermatoses, wavelength, and several other factors, which emphasizes the need for an individual approach to photoprotection. It is also necessary to adjust the composition and texture of the protective cream. Excessive exposure to the sun or artificial sources of ultraviolet (UV) radiation has adverse effects on the skin and can cause or worsen several diseases, mainly UVB (290-320 nm), UVA2 (320-340 nm) and UVA1 (340-400 nm).
