PATCH TESTS

Patch testing is a well established method of diagnosing contact allergy and contact allergic dermatitis which is a delayed type of type-IV reaction. The patients are exposed to the suspected allergens for 48 hours, the results examined over the following 24 to 48 hours. It is not easy to interpret the results. The aim of this article is to summarize current information about this investigative technique.
