DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF THE EDEMA OF LOWER EXTREMITIES
Edema is defined as a clinically apparent increase in the interstitial fluid volume. Edema may be localized or generalized. Pathophysiological mechanisms are different. In the clinical practice is important to differentiate chronic venous insufficiency, deep vein thrombosis and lymphatic edema from other possible causes.
