Diffuse alopecia – anagen and telogen deffluvium

Diffuse alopecia is the most common type of hair loss. Very often it is a cosmetic problem with impact on a quality of life. It can be caused by underlying medical conditions, medications, hormonal changes, nutritional factors, internal and skin diseases, stres and many other factors. True hair loss should be distinguished from damage to the hair with breakage of the hair shaft by exogenous triggers or genetic diseases. The severity of hair shedding should be assesed by pull test, trichogram or other techniques.
