Angiokeratoma

Angiokeratoma is a benign vascular lesion characterized by blood vessel ectasia in the superficial dermis with reactive epidermal changes. It presents as solitary or multiple lesion, with tendency to confluence to patches. Skin and mucosal lesions may be associated with venous hypertension, and/or life threatening metabolic disorders. Local destructive methods, mainly laser treatment, are applied in management of the lesions. Enzyme replacement therapy may significantly improve Fabry´s disease. We review the main clinical characteristics of angiokeratoma, morphology, etiopathogenesis and present treatment strategies.

Keywords: angiokeratoma, Fabry´s disease, nodular melanoma, laser treatment, enzyme replacement therapy.
