Marfan syndrome: C-section - casuistry

Marfan syndrome (MFS) is an autosomal dominant hereditary disorder that affects connective tissue. Pregnancy in women with MFS is not recommended, due to the increased incidence of complications, that threaten not only the mother but also the child. Percentage of dissection or rupture of the aortic aneurysm in the partum and postpartum period is increasing. Management of a pregnant woman with MFS requires a multidisciplinary approach (cardiologist, geneticist, gynecologist, neonatologist, heart and vascular surgeons, anesthetist). This work presents the etiology of MFS, complications during pregnancy and management of pregnant women.
