Has an administration of betablockators to septic patients any importance?
Adrenergic nervous system is a key modulator of organ functions and cardiovascular homeostasis in health and sickness. For sepsis there is characteristic activation of sympatic nervous system, with high catecholamines flow but on the other side with myocardial depression, vascular hyporeactivity and autonomic dysfunction. Catecholamines have influence on many organs. Beta adrenergic modulation could be promising terapeutic form in conditions of intensive medicine.
