ACE – INHIBITORS AND AT1R – ANTAGONISTS ARE THE FIRST LINE MEDICATION FOR IgA NEPHROPATHY

IgA nephropathy is the most common primary glomerulonepohritis. Urinalysis usually reveals predominant hematuria, in half of patients macroscopic. Chronic renal failure develops in 40 % patients within 20 years from diagnosis. The specific treatment is not known. We start its treatment by ACE inhibitors frequently in a combination with AT1R blockers (sartans). If aktivity of the disease which in mainly determined by a degree of proteinuria persists after 3–6 months of this treatment, glucocorticosteroids are administered.
